Over the years, Snapchat has seen a vertical spike in the number of active users. This clearly states that the app is quite popular globally. The app has been downloaded over 1 billion times. There are millions of users globally who use the Snapchat app on a daily basis. But the users have always faced a problem and that is A FIXED USERNAME. After years of requests, it has finally allowed the users to change the username. Here’s how to change username on Snapchat.
Snapchat username is set when you first create your account, and the app earlier did not allow you to change this due to security reasons. So, in order to get a new username, you had to create a new account. Thanks to the new update there’s now an official way to do it.
Snapchat has only allowed users to change their usernames once a year, which is understandable. Keep in mind that since the feature is still rolling out, it might take some time before it is visible to everyone. There’s no official update from Snapchat as to when this update be rolled to everyone but we can expect an announcement from them soon.
Only few countries have got the new update. If you cannot see a username update option and can’t wait to try it out, you can follow these steps.
- Connect to a VPN (preferably Australia).
- Head over to play store and just update/uninstall and reinstall the Snapchat application.
- Open Snapchat username section and you’ll see a option to change username.
- Enter your new username and check if it’s available.
